My weekend starts on Friday when I go bowling.  I have not been in the last 3 or 4 Fridays, as I wrote in a previous post, on of those bad thunder storms caved in the roof of the bowling alley we bowled at and had to find another place.  It only took them a week to find one, put then I was packing to go on my trip, so this Friday was my first day back at it, did not bowl to good (new alley and all) yea, right, I just was have a bad day.  But it was a great night, because they had Bull Riding in the bowling alley.  No I did not get on the bull, Tom would have made a seen, if I broke my neck.  But here are few photos of those who did.

After the meeting, I stopped by the house to drop of my things and run over to my girl friends mother’s house, were a full blown block party was going on for the support of CANCER.  The do this block party every year and it was the first time I went.  I did not stay long, could not take pictures since it went dead on my at the work shop.  When I left there I went home and fell in the bed, and you know that Sunday is the Lords day for me, I am glad I was able to stay up through the sermon John 3:16.

I also received my Black & White Quilt that I sent out to have quilted, put I will have to show you the pictures tomorrow.  I am going to bed and it is only 7:24 pm.

So I will blog with you later

Blog Hop Buttons: Do You Keep Them or Delete Them?

O.K.  I have to make this quick since I am blogging from work.  I was just wondering what is the procedure for old Blog Hop buttons?  If the Blog Hop is over with do you keep it on your side bar, or do you delete them to make room for other Blog Hop buttons, or do you move recent button on top and old on the bottom.  This is a burning question I must know.  So please get back to me on this.

Now I must introduce you to two Blog Hops that I have on my side bar for you to click and join if you have not already.  And I will get more into the buttons once I am home.

What Was In The Mail

Since my return from my trip, I have been running around trying to get myself together.  I have been so lazy, all I have been doing is siting in front of the t.v., then tried to wash clothes and I finally looked through the mail and was surprised with a package I forgot was coming.

SAM_1270

I won this 42 charm square package by Sweetwater for moda called Hometown from Mocha Wild Child.  Thank you for this wonderful prize along with the iron-on appliques mirrors.

I also got a reply from KatieQ from Salt Marsh Path and I will be mailing her prize tomorrow.  I was to mail it today, put forgot it running out of the house to work, since I haven’t been to work in over a week, I forgot I had to comeback.

Tom’s father is home, he did not want the surgery.  There was no guarantees of making it through the surgery with his age and if things get bad, he wants to be home with his wife and children.  Please keep him in your prayers.

I am working on my Quilting Bee’s newsletter that needs to get out before the Saturday meeting and I have been working on it at work.  I do not think I will get back to the sewing room until next week, put looking forward to finishing my bags.  I also need to catch-up on my blog reading, I know I am missing some giveaway or blog hopping event.

So until I blog again

Home Again, Home Again Jiggety-Jig

Yes I am home, I feel like Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ, I wanted to click my heels 3 time, close my eyes and say “There is no place like home”.  I must say that Detroit is so far not my favorite place to visit. Here are a few pictures I took while I was there.

The pictures above I took on the bus on the way to the airport.  The one on the left in a ring in a park, and the one on the right is the largest tire in the world (that is what the bus drive said).

Below are pictures from inside the airport.  Good by Detroit, it was a nice visit, put I am glad to be home. and back with my cats, family, friends, and sewing machine.

SAM_1223SAM_1224

On the downside of my return, Tom’s father was hospitalized last night with a aneurysm in his head.  He is 89 years old and not in the best of health, the doctors suggest as surgery that could contain the aneurysm, but there is a risk that he might not make it.  He wants to go home to died, his wife wants him to have it.  Tom is at the hospital now, and I am waiting for him to call me to pick him up.  It is the first time I have seen him cry.  He is so close to his parents and he was always there for me and my family when my mother and grandmother passed.  It is so hard sometimes in these situations to comfort that person that might suffer a lost.  But I will be with him to give him what comfort he will need to see his father through.

One a last note before I sign off, tomorrow is the day I will select the winner of the Red, White and Blue blog hop.  Some lucky winner will win this lovely fabric with its own security guard to accompany it.

SAM_1217

Since my cats do not seem to want to pick the name for it, I will be using the random number generator.  I will have the winner by my next post tomorrow evening.  So look out for your name.

Until tomorrow

MIA in Detroit

Hello everybody, I am in Detroit at the FEW training conference.  The training is going well, put I must say there is not much to see around this hotel.  I am not liking Detroit all that much.
I do have a great view of Windsor Canada from my window, which I cannot go across the river because I did not bring my passport.  So far all my girlfriend Tracie and her daughter and friend have been doing is sitting out on the river walk and watching the people walk pass and looking across the river at Windsor.

They did take a walk down the river walk and found The Gateway to Freedom Sculpture.

International Memorial to the Underground Railroad was sculpted by Ed Dwight and Dedicated October 20,2001 with a companion work “Tower of Freedom” in the Civic Esplanade Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
We do plan to take a trip to the Motown Museum when we have some free time from classes.

The vendor hall, was a little lax this year, not that many vendors, put I was able to find a couple of items.
SAM_1252SAM_1253SAM_1254
Yes more turtles for my collection.  I do not plan to buy anything else.  I have not found a fabric or quilt shop anywhere yet, but I am still looking.

I am trying to keep up with reading everyone’s blogs, so I can keep up with what all of you are doing, put sometimes when I get to my room all I want to do is fall in the bed.  So if you do not hear from me in the next couple of days, just remember “I will be back”.

So until I get home

I WON!!!!!

I know I have not blogged in a couple of days, but like I said earlier I am back at work and attending Vocation Bible School in the evenings, so I have not had time to do any quilting or blogging.  But I have been visiting all the new and old bloggers.  One of my new blogger friend is Francine of Mocha Wild Child.  Thank you again and please go over and visit her blog.  Oh, I forgot, I won a Hometown Charm pack.  When I receive it I will show it to you.

Tomorrow night is the last night for me at Vocation Bible School and it has been enjoyable with the great teachers that we have.  I still will not have too much time to blog but will be checking everyday.  Saturday I will be running around trying to get packet for my trip to the FEWNTP (Federal Employed Women –National Training Program), so if any of you bloggers are from Detroit, WHERE ARE THE QUILT SHOPS!!!!  Drop me a line if you know.  If I have time Saturday, I might be able to finish the Jellyroll bag I started.

RW&B-Security Guard For the Give Away

The Red, White & Blue Security Guard for the give-away, has finally got here all the way from Malawi.  As he crawled his way through the jungles of Africa to accompany some lucky winners fabric to destinations unknown at this time.
SAM_1213SAM_1214
I  wonder if he stopped off for a beer, or something since I see he has had some kind of plastic surgery done on his underside.
SAM_1215
He looks like, he will be more useful at the beach or a party with his usefulness for opening bottles.  He is a nameless Guard and waiting for when he gets to his destination where his new owner will name him.

Look at him inspecting the great blocks that I did, checking them out for any mistakes that I might have overlooked (like his opinion matters).

He is already on the job to make sure I will not misplace the prize and that no sticky finger quilter tries to take off with his charge.
SAM_1216SAM_1217

I am hoping that he finds a loving home, since he will be leaving all of his sisters, brothers and assorted kins with me (who might some day become security guards to their own give-away one day).
SAM_1210SAM_1211SAM_1212
For those of you who do not know me, I am a collector of turtles and co-workers that travel all overseas from West, South, East and Central Africa will always bring me a turtle for the great job I do in getting their travel in and them off the tarmac.

This is also reason for my name of fame – THE SLOW QUILTER.

This is just a small look at my collection which I will feature sometime later.
So for those of you who are following me and left comments to the RW&B blog hop, you could be the home he goes to on July 22nd.

Good Luck
