As D.C. shovels its way out of it’s little snow storm yesterday, I am working from home.  I slept yesterday away and I am ready to do some real work.  As usual I am slow to hit the sewing room, put will get there.  A co-worker sent me this Mug Shots, which one would be the right one for you?  I picked all of them.

Birthday Give Away Winner

SAM_0298

O.K. you all know that I am slow, but I must add forgetfulness to that as well.  I was so into the new grand-baby, that I forgot to do the drawing.  But I do have a winner and it is Colette LeFever of What About Rheema?  As soon as she gets back to me with address, I will be sending this out to her, with something else in the envelop.

Everything is fine here at the homestead, will be sending my daughter and baby home this weekend and maybe get some sewing done.  I have a lot of work to do so keep a watch out for me.

New Baby & Birthday Give Away

It has been a busy week for me.  With cold weather and waiting for the baby to come.  The Drs. wanted to wait another day before inducing labor, so they did not do that until after 12:00 am.  I went home since I had been sitting at the hospital all morning with my daughter.  Went back the next morning waiting for her to dilate more, which did not happen to late that evening.  They were going to break her water, but she told them to wait until after she watch Empire that came on at 9:00.  Yah right.  I am ready for this baby to get here and she wants to wait a watch a TV show.  I remember when I was having her I was watching Good Times.

Anyway, please let me introduce you to my grand-daughter Asia Nicole, borne Feb. 18th at 11:37 pm, weighing 7lbs –6.2oz.  This is the first girl in the family in 38 years.

I am so over this right now, all she does is eat, sleep and poop.  They are staying with me this week and then home they go.  Told my daughter that when she does more then that bring her back.  Open-mouthed smile

On to the Birthday giveaway.  Today is my birthday and I think it might be the first time I went to work on my birthday.  When I got home, on the dinning room table were flowers, balloons, and two cards from my sweetie Tom.  (Too bad, dinner was on the table, had to fix that myself).

Here is what one of the cards read:

Hah, hah.  This is what was in the cards (brown and blue).  Can you figure out what it is?  Ladies, never let your man buy your underwear.  He will never see me in them.  I am a old cotton wearing 58 year old women, they look like they will scratch me were I don’t need scratching.Sad smileOpen-mouthed smile

Cold, Snow, Baby on the Way

clip_image001

Baby it’s cold outside around here, we have had about 17 below and snow is coming.  Not sure how much in the district but I am glad I do not have to work tomorrow.

I have not had a chance to get back to my quilting.  My daughter is coming to stay with me for a time, so I have been trying to get the house together and cook up some food for the week.  She will be going into the hospital tomorrow (Tuesday) to have a baby.  IT’S A GIRL.  It is the first girl in the family in 37 years.  Looking forward for little Asia, yes that will be her name Asia to come into the world.

I hoping to finish up my Support quilt this week so I can pass it on to my friend Tracie.  It is so cold in my sewing room that I will have to move my machine to either my bedroom or the living room.  Looking forward to showing off again.

Well not much to write about, plan to spend the rest of the night reading what you are up too.

Keep warm with a quilt, and keep sewing.

We Support You–Surviving the Fight

wesupportyou
It has been a long road to this final day of the “We Support You” blog hop. There have been many thoughtful creations and heartfelt stories of those who have suffered lost and survived cancer. There is always more that we all can do to support this deadly disease.

Before I get started I would like to thank  Madame Samm and Pat for a great hop.  They have brought all who have been following this hop more aware of cancer and the people it effects.   In other word they have put a face to it.

tracyangie1I am dedicating this blog and my quilt to a co-work and friend Tracy, better known by friends and family as TraciePositive. She always has a positive attitude even when things are not very bright. Surviving is her family’s motto. She wrote this piece for me.

Living with family/friends with Breast Cancer who have survived this BATTLE

My cousin/sister Angela Minor is a fighter, this year she will be a 6 year survivor.  When she told me she had this disease, it made me sick to my stomach and I don’t know why. I questioned GOD and he said to me that this is the devils work, but I am the HIGHEST HEALER and we are going to work this out together.  He did just that and removed the cancer and she is a survivor still standing strong.  My Aunt Barbara-Ann is also a fighter, this year it will be 4 years for her.  She has not complained, not one time, she took into consideration what the doctors told her she needed to do and did it. She told me that she and GOD had this, and if her niece Angie could go through this and fight and become a survivor she knew she could do the same thing, she is a fighter who survived this terrible disease.  Aunt Barbara-Ann’s daughter, Darlisa was diagnosed about 4 months ago.   She told the doctors, if my cousin and mother can beat this battle she knew it would not stop her.  She had surgery on Feb. 2, 2015 and is doing well.  Now, tell me I don’t have 3 STRONG WOMAN.

GetAttachmentIn order to survive this disease called cancer you have to have a hell of a team. You got to have GOD, loving and caring family and friends to keep you fighting.  These three ladies had this team and much more. They had faith and they were determine to fight, they never gave up.

clip_image002There is so much we have done to support our love ones who have survived the battle of cancer and those who have lost the battle to this terrible disease.  We have done fish fries, block parties, bus trips and we even do the AVON walk for cancer every year.  So to show our support for the survivors and for the survivors that fought but lost the battle with cancer we went as far as creating our own logo/slogan.

I thank you Tracie, for your most encouraging story of faith, family and courage. “We Support You”, and all of the families that might suffer from this most deadly disease.

In my support to you and my second family, I dedicate this quilt to you. Stand Strong and Surviving.

Before I show you my unfinished quilt, I must tell you that I left my camera at work.  No one in this house has a camera but me.  So the pictures are a little crappie since I had to use my cell phone.  I tried to spruce them up with some editing, but crappie is crappie.

We Support You–I’m In

wesupportyoubutton_zps4ca03b4a

Please don’t pass out.  Yes, this is my second blog of the year, one right behind the other, surprise.  As I was catching up on the blogs, I ran into one titled “A Little Support Here” by Carol Swift of Just Let Me Quilt.  My first thought was, “I hope nothing is wrong and I was will to give her all the support I could.  My second thought was I could use another support bra.  Don’t laugh I have to pay $65 to $75 for a good support bra to hold these girls up.

As I read her post I realized it was about supporting breast cancer.  Yes, I have had a friend who has pass from this, I even had a scare sometime back.   It was a post of a Blog Hop to support breast cancer, and as always Mdm Samm has done it again.  I left a comment on Carol’s blog saying how I wish I could join them on this most thoughtful hop and that I would be cheering them on.

Pat from Life In The Scrapatch saw my comment and sent me a e-mail to see if I would like to still participate in the Hop (she is head cheerleader).  I was so happy, I almost jumped out of my chair (I am at work) and did the Moon Walk (note to self, no Moon Walking, bad knee).  So I am in the hop and if this does not get my Groove Back nothing will.  I’m So HAPPY is playing in my head right now.

The Blog Hop starts Jan. 29 – Feb. 11 and I will will be on the last day, and would you know it, the theme is a BRA, pattern done by Mdm Samm (wish I had the aptitude to make my own bra) .  Nothing like getting the old creative juices flowing.  I will be looking through my stash of fabrics thinking of what I want to make.  Oh how I am jumping for joy (note to self, no jumping, might fall).

So, you will see me blogging a little bit more and I like to thank all of you who have missed me the last couple of months.

Keep your needles sharp and your foot on the peddle.

Desperately Seeking Susan????

First I would like to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the blogging community.  Yes I am late with this.  Yes I have been MIA for awhile, you know how it can be sometime when family and life gets in the way.

desperately seeking susan

I am not really Desperately Seeking Susan (Madonna), although I am a Material Girl (get it).  O.K., o.k. that was not that funny.  I am Desperately Seeking The Slow Quilter (Felicia), me.

I have some how misplaced myself mentally.  I don’t know if I’m  “scratching my watch of winding my ass” (from 9 to 5 Dolly Parton) After cleaning up the sewing room and living room of all my quilt stuff I have not been able to get back into the swing of things.  I have been doing a lot of crocheting and teaching myself how to knit again.  I have been working on a sock.  That’s right a sock, just one, I am almost to the heel.  No picture yet, don’t want to stop writing this blog or I might not get back to it.

With the New Year coming in, and quilt meetings, I think I might just find myself again.  I already have a couple of challenges to look forward to and finishing up some of my UFOs.  Oh yah, I have a new grandbaby coming in February, so look at all the baby quilts and outfits I can make with all this fabric.

Just maybe, I will put on some Madonna tunes and Vogue through the house or roll around on the floor. (To self, no rolling around on floor, might not be able to get back up).  Ok talking to myself again, bad habits.

I also have been watching a lot of the ID and Forensic File channel on TV.  My sons think I am trying to get away with MURDER.  Like murdering them or their father.  Can't wait for that show to start (How To Get Away With Murder).

Anyway, I might be getting my Groove back (must be since I keep coming up with all these movie names (How Stella Got Her Groove Back).

O.K. I will stop, need finish cooking dinner before I burn it.  So until I blog again, keep your seam rippers sharp, and your stitches 1/4 inch and I will blog with you later.
