My song for today was “I Can See Clearly Now The Rain Has Gone” (what is up with all these rain songs????) It was not even raining this morning, it was just cloudy, oh well “The sun will come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there’ll be sun!……… Tomorrow, tomorrow I love ya tomorrow! You’re always a day away!!!! (sorry, I got stuck there for a moment). It seems that there are songs in my head every morning.
Well, today for me, I decided to treat myself to a nice morning breakfast at the Lincoln Waffle House right across the street from the Lincoln Theater and down the street for the House were Lincoln died. I did not eat in I took it back to the office.
Umm, doesn’t that look good? Scrabbled eggs, with good country sausage and waffle smothered in butter and maple syrup. My usual breakfast is a cup of coffee and breakfast sandwich. This was a good treat for me.
The street vendors were out setting up their wears. Do you know I have lived in DC all of my life and I do not own anything that says DC on it. I might have to look very close to what they have on the stand, and get me a “I LOV DC” T-shirt one day.
Well the big May for Me thing that happed to me today, was at our staff meeting. I was given a very special gifts from my co-workers. I work for USAID a government agency that travels overseas, and my office goes to most of the African countries. Well one of the ladies had a quilt may for me in Liberia as she said, “A quilt for a quilter”. It is all hand quilted queen size. These pictures do not do it justice. I will take another picture when I put in on my bed. They SO APPRICIATE ME!!!!!
This is Mary who had it made for me. I also received a gift card for Sephora with a compact mirror (sorry no picture).
I have met so many people who comment on my blog, and try to give them a SHOUT OUT and follow them. One such person is Sandra from Toronto, Canada - http://suddenlysandra.blogspot.com/ if you get a chance check her out. We met on Sew Sweetness and she was nice to reply to a comment I made on grabbing this button for a June give away. Check out Sew Sweetness.
I also have a twin out there, we think we were separated at birth, we love to read the same types of books and we have so much in common that it is frightening. We have met only once, put we e-mail each other often. Hi Robin, Livin’Blue Quilter. She has not had time to blog in awhile, like me she works, and reads and reads and works on her quilts. Put the book down and finish that quilt.
So this was a great May for Me Day. Hope yours was as good as mine. No sewing tonight, the little one is here and I have to get his dinner on the table. So until tomorrow.
The Slow Quilter
