Goodies In The Mail–Tom Strikes Again

What a day, and tomorrow is Friday, YAH!!! No more work until after Christmas.  My Division had a little office meeting/party and we connected to our inner child.  Kim brought in all these little toy gifts like Slinkys, kazoos, bubbles, bat and balls and yoyos.  And my supervisor Linda brought in the stuff animals that were slingshots that made animal noises when they are sling across the room.  They really got into it.  I had a quacking duck, and there was also a screeching cat, frogs, chickens, pigs and monkeys.

SAM_2100SAM_2105

Here is Gorge playing with is slinky and Katelyn with the slingshot cat.

Here is Katelyn and Kirk blowing bubbles.  What a fun group this is.  They were really letting off some steam.

After getting home from work, I notice that Tom has been at it again.  He has added something else to the front door.

SAM_2117

OMG!!! He added bows.  Yes, bows.  For all I know he could have put them on the door when I went to bed last night and I just didn't notice it this morning when I was running out the door for work.  And to make matters worst, as I was talking to my girl Linda (Eat, Sleep, Quilt), I noticed that he also added bows to the inside of the door.

SAM_2116

Now I know that, I wrote in a early post that I would not show you the inside door, put I just had to show you the picture of this.  I’ll know better next year not to let him near the decorations.

I also said I had a 4 inch tree, Linda corrected me on that it is a 4 foot tree and I had it all decorated and ready for its picture debut, but guess what, that was laying in the floor.  I know one of the cats (Louie) knocked it over, because he kept trying to climb it.  So back to working on the little 4 foot tree.  He also broke my star, so I will not have anything to put on top of it.Sad smileCrying face

Now here is what I got in the mail today, OH HAPPY DAY!!!

SAM_2113

Four more coin purse frames from Robin (Livin’ Blue Quilter) .  Thank you again for looking out for me.

SAM_2115

My Square in a Square ruler from Kelly (I Have A Notion).  That was fast delivery.  You should checkout the IHAN shop, she has great deals and wonderful service and she will work with you to get want you want.  Thank you Kelly.

SAM_2112

And last, my win fabric from Barbara over at  Cat Patches.  I received these 5 Gypsy Caravan fat quarters with a lovely post card from Oregon.  That card looks like a quilt in the making with the moon and mountain reflecting off the lake.  Thank you again for the win Barbara.

Well, I have string beans and collard greens cooking on the stove.  When they cool down I will vacuum pack them and  put in the freezer for the Christmas dinner.  I don’t think I will be getting any quilting done until after the holiday.  I have a lot of prep work for breakfast/dinner.  I am really think of a Christmas Eve dinner and a Christmas breakfast.  Gives me time to visit friends and eat somewhere else instead of my house for a change.

So if you do not here from me after tonight, just know that I am working hard, drinking hard, and playing it safe, I am also reading your blogs.

Not Doing Nothing–Coining Around

I have been home all day doing nothing but reading.  I needed a little me time before I go back to work tomorrow and tackle office work and come home and tackle that dog-gone tree (you would think I had a 20 foot tree in the house it is only 4”)  and everything else around here.

But, I have good new for me.  My quilting friends have been looking out for me at the Jo Ann’s stores.  Linda of Eat, Sleep, Quilt was out at Jo Ann’s in Gaithersburg, MD and picked me up 5 coin frames.

SAM_2062

Then I got a e-mail from Robin of Livin’ Blue Quilter said she was mailing me 4 frames she got at a Virginia Jo Ann’s.  I’m not finish yet.  One of my guild members, Nadine (The Fabric Peddler) will be ordering me another 10 frames all at a  cost of under $4.00.

OH, yah, I have some great friends out there.  I will be rolling in coin purse frames next year ( which is only 2 or 3 weeks away) and I can make more purses.  LOVE IT!!!!!

Will I guess I’ll be coining around until tomorrow

Working At Finishing- Another Win!!! And Other Stuff???

Well, I am glad to say that I have finished my last 3 coin purses, and yah, do you believe that I forgot to take pictures before I sent them on their way for Christmas gifts.  Oh well what can I say.

I received my first win from Kelly of IHAN (I Have A Notion), the Pony Express Book and DVD.

SAM_2098

This book is by Jodi Barrows and is used with the Square in a Square Ruler.  Kelly will be ordering a ruler for me.  I might be tackling this project next year sometime.  Might be one of the new projects I plan to use in Barbara’s 2013 New FO Challenge  Linky Party at Cat Patches, you can just click on the button on my side bar to learn more about it.

This also brings me to my second win.  I also won the Amy Butler’s Gypsy Caravan Fat Quarter bundle from Cat Patches.

Giveaway 002 copy

This is a great win for me since I am trying to breakout of the box of my usual fabric buy of batiks and African fabrics.  Looking forward to creating something new.  Thank you Barbara for the win.

Nancy DREW is a clue

As you know the Nancy Drew Blog Hop has been reschedule for March. YAH!! Since there was some fabric delays, you can now get it and have time to get your project done.  Would you believe that this morning before church, I was flipping through the channels and what was on but a Nancy Drew movie.  I really enjoyed it, and plan to read more of the series.  I thinking I Spy Quilt would do great for this fabric.

smallbuttoninyourwords

Since the Nancy Drew Blog Hop was postpone, Carol has set up another Blog Hop for January, “In Your Words”, which will start January 7-16th.  It will be hosted by Linda of Buzzing and Bumbling.  All you have to do is make any project you want and add a word or words that reveal who you are or more about you.  That sounds simple doesn’t?  Well I am so many things and just having to put a word to me could be a problem or a very big quilt.  So I ask you, any of my blog readers that know me, what word/words would you use to describe me (that request goes out to the UHURU Quilters Guild, the Wee Bee Quilters and anyone who reads my blog).  I have some in mind, but I like to know what you think of me.

Now as you might have read on my last blog, I went out and got a little fuzzy head.  Tom picked me up and I was able to stumble through writing a blog and went to bed.  On my way out to church this morning, I notice that Tom had been cleaning (great guy there) since I have been busy making coin purses and cooking I have not really tried to clean house.  Also while at church, he put up some decorations (Lord, the man does not know what he is doing, just what he wants).  You know I had already put a reef on the door, he added something else.

SAM_2096 Yes, that is red foil on the door.  What came to mind when I saw this was tacky.  I’m leaving it alone.  Next and I am not sure if this will stay out front or not is a tree.

This is not too bad, but I SAM_2097will have to place it some-where else on the porch.  I am not going to show you what he did to the other side of the door.  I am just to embarrass. Tacky could not describe what is on the other side of the door.  I know when I get home from work tomorrow that I will be doing the last of the decorations before that man touches another thing.

I hope next year that I will be more into the decorations, because that man does not know what he is doing.  Well', I got to get ready to watch the Royal Pains move and get ready for work tomorrow.  Let you know what I will be starting tomorrow as if you can keep me away from the blog.

Merry Christmas to All and to All a Goodnight

So Many Things to Say.

This is a new day, and we all have all pored out our prays for the lost of so many, but as always life goes on, but we will not forget.

Today, I had to let it go, but I will still think about the tragedy that happen Friday morning.  There is nothing I can do put send up my prays to the families that have lost their love ones.

Today was my Guilds annual Christmas party celebration, and before we started we sent I blessing and prays for those who have lost love ones during this year.

It was a great celebration, but as I was MC for the most part, I did not take the time to take pictures.  I am hoping that maybe Linda from Eat, Sleep & Quilt might have taken pictures and will post them on her blog tomorrow.  But if not it was a fun filled day with old and founding members coming to share Christmas cheer with us.

Also, later I was invited by my co-worker to stop by to celebrate the return of her daughter from London who had been doing some summer studying over there.

Here is my friend and co-worker and her husband Darnell and daughter MyChelle (I think I spelled it right). She is a most lovely young lady with the future ahead of her and I know that her parents are very proud of her.

196497_10200242739054158_1232320316_n392114_2819593851990_1390365845_n

It was a nice gathering of friends and family, and OMG, Darnell the fish was great, I love it along with the two drinks I had, that I am still fuzzy in the head while trying to do this blog, so if there is misspelled words, of sentence that do not make any since, blame it on a half drunk Slow Quilter.

I also want to tell you what I received in the mail today along with another win.  Put since my head is fuzzy from the drink (and I do not drink often), I will wait until tomorrow.

So keep your family close and always say you love them.

OMG!!! What Is This World Coming To.

As I came home from work, ready to tackle the lights for the tree and blog about the office Christmas party and how up-lifting I felt today, Tom was telling me about the school shooting in Connecticut that happen this morning.

I turned on the T.V. to listen to the report, and all I could do is shake my head and send up a pray for the lost of life of 20 killed children and their families.  All I could think about was the senseless killing that has been happening all over, even the shooting at the mall and the one in July at the movie theater.  It makes you want to never step outside your door.

I'm sorry if I am bringing you down with this, but I just had to get this feeling of sadness off my chest as tears of sorrow roll down my cheeks.  When will this senseless killing of our fellow man stop.  Oh, how I have so much I want to write, but life will go on.  There will be celebrations of Christmas cheer, the sharing of families love.  We will feel blessed that we have made it through another year, but what of those who have not.

I will pray tonight for the families who have lost a love one through senseless tragedy, of mindless people who think they need to take others with them on their madness.

Hold your love ones close, and always let them know how much you love them.

Christmas Decorations Take 2

O.K. I am at it again.  Running in from work and trying to get things together here at the home front.  The office Christmas party is tomorrow, so I hit the kitchen to put together my two side dishes.  One is the black eye peas salad and the other was a black beans and rice dish.  That did not take long at all.  No plans to fix dinner since no one is home and if they want to eat, they will have to fix a sandwich.

Next I hit the basement again looking for that old faithful Christmas Tree.  I know, Darnell wanted a real tree this year.  I said if he wants one, then he needs to buy it.  There are no children here this year so, I am not all into the tree thing.  I remember when, I went all out for Christmas and decorating the house, real tree the whole spirit of the season.  Now, I just do not want to go through the fuss (which I will have to take down myself, no help from the guys).

Well, anyway, I pulled out the faithful fake tree to see what shape it was in.

SAM_2090 Yah, it is a small tree, only about 4” tall.  I have to either run out to look for some tree ornaments, or see what I may have left down in the basement.  I just set the little Santa on top so it would not look like a Charley Brown tree.  I will be sitting the tree on a higher table with tree skirt and lights by tomorrow, since old Tom still has not gone through the lights I have in the box (I might have to breakdown and do it myself).

I already have to keep Ms. Jay and Louie out of the tree, they like the little hanging ornaments.  See Louie up the tree (I must let these cats out of the house sometime, they just do not know how to act when green comes into the house fake or real).

SAM_2088SAM_2093

Oh, I forgot, here is a picture of the wreath on the door.SAM_2087

I have also notice, that there is not a lot of people on my block with outside decorations out, maybe they are having the same problem I am, looking for those dag-gone decorations from last year.  I like driving through the neighborhood looking at the decorations that other people have put up.  Some are pretty amazing. Do you think if I knock on their door they would come and finish mines?  With my luck they will call the police and say that a crazy person is at their door.

Tomorrow I will hit the lights and try to do the windows.  Then back to the sewing room for me to make more gifts.  The clock is ticking people are you finish yet?

May your days be merry and bright, and may all your quilting be finished on time.

Merry Christmas

All Most Missed Out on a Win!!!!

I am just getting home from work, and thought that I better get this blog out before I get to busy to write one tonight.

Last night after I posted my blog, I went through my e-mail accounts which I had plenty to look through since I have been sew—busy working on projects.  And what did I find but a e-mail posted 2 weeks ago from Kelly at IHAN letting me know that I won the Pony Express Sampler.  I was so surprised, I wonder if she still had it for me, so I quickly replied to her e-mail to see if she was still holding it for me, and yes she was (I think she has been very busy herself).  She has already put it in the mail as it speeds its way through the mail.  Looking forward to getting it.

I plan to get a littler Christmas decorations up tonight and the first thing I did when I walked in the house is to run down to the basement and find my door reef and plop it on the door.   Now I have to go through the boxes of Christmas stuff to see what I plan to put up next.  Maybe but some red bows on the outside stair railings and hang lights at the window.

I might not get any sewing done tonight, but there is always tomorrow.

Sew Until Then

Still At It!!!

Yes, I am still at it, making more coin purses, I have finish a total of 15 purses, and since I only have three closures, I will be finish tonight until I purchase more.  Here is my latest coin purse, the lady herself Ms. Betty Boop.

SAM_2086

I just need to put in the lining and she will be finished.  All the Christmas decorations are still in the box, so I guess I better it cracking and get some up before Christmas passes me by.

Back to work tomorrow, so I might not start any new projects at this time.  Hope the boys will be home to help me get these decorations up.  They want a live tree this year and Tom likes to wait until just the last minute to get one.  If it is up to me, the little table top tree I have in the box will be fine with me.  They cats will probably knock it over anyway.

Until I blog again

Another Long Day

Well, I am winding down for the night, it has been a long day.  I did not get to bed until after 2:00 a.m. and was up by 7:00.  It seem that everyone in the house had somewhere to go.  Had to drop of my son for an early choir rehearsal, my daughter came to my house from work to drop off something, so I had to take her home with a stop by the store, then Tom and I went looking for more purse frames, and then went grocery shopping for ourselves and my mother.  When I got back to the house I just went back to bed and told him to put up the food.

I did get back up in time to finish putting the frames on 5 of the coin purses.  Sorry again, I know you cannot see the purses in the back that well, put hell,  it is almost midnight and I cannot be a very creative picture taker at this time of night.  Louie seems to be on top of the Christmas decorations stretching out on Tom’s coat.

And here is the handmade gift that I got yesterday (Friday) from one of the ladies in my Ministry.

And below as I promised is the gift that I made for Charlene and Pat (this one is Charlene’s).  I had her take a picture of it and send it to me, she has picture creativity going for her.  She even sit a iron on it.  Pat is not as picture savvy as Charlene, so I will have to get a picture of it when I see her next weekend.

iron cover 1iron cover 2

I am sure you can see what it is, it is a iron caddy.  I still have to make two more of these.

Well I know I will not get to sleep before 1 a.m. and it will be a long day at church and my day of rest.  Sew until Monday you all have a blessed day.

The Slow Quilter

Gee, I am hungry, think I fix me a sandwich before I hit the bed.  Please do not do this (eat before bed) it could keep you up all night and make you fat all day.Rolling on the floor laughing

A DUH!! Moment

My Duh moment is when I forgot to take a picture of the gifts I made with this fabric I should you yesterday.  My girlfriends (Pat & Charlene) was so surprised.  I plan to run up to Charlene’s house tomorrow to take a picture and you will be able to see what it is.

SAM_2063SAM_2064

My Ministry had there Christmas luncheon today (Friday) and we had a gift exchange.  Again a Duh!! moment, the gift I received is upstairs and I did not take a picture, (what is on my mind).  Here are some of my members.

SAM_2065SAM_2066SAM_2067SAM_2068SAM_2069SAM_2070SAM_2071SAM_2072SAM_2073SAM_2074SAM_2075SAM_2076

We had a great lunch.  When I got home I started on the other 8 coin purses I needed to finish and yah – DUH!!! no pictures of them.  I completed the shells and linings, just 3 more linings to go and they will be ready for the frames, I should have pictures of them for you tomorrow night.

As you can tell by this posting time (1:00 a.m.) I am in the stupid stage of not knowing up from down or my favorite saying from 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton “I don’t know if I am scratching my watch or winding my ass.”  So until I blog tomorrow with a clear mind and good eye sight, have a great shopping Saturday.

Love You All

P.S. If you see any misspelled words, I could not find the spell check.  I really wasn’t looking for it either. Smile
