Heat-Corn Rolls- RW&B Blog Hop

It is still hot out there with thunder storms coming.  This is my last day off from work and I will have to hit the government walls tomorrow morning.  I will have to set the alarm just to remind me I have to go to work.  Because of the heat, trying to keep a hairstyle is impossible.  I sweat so much from the head that even rolling up my hair is useless ( I also have to blame it on personal heat too) and I end up having to curl my hair every morning.
To cut the time of having to do my hair every morning and worry about it when I go out of town this coming Sunday I had my stepsons baby mom come over after church to corn roll my hair.  I must warn you that these pictures are graphic and painful (my pain).

Yes that is roll of fat scalp back there, but I must say this is a cool style.  The braids are so tight that I think I have a face lift.  Well it will loosen up in a day or two (not the fat rolls in the back of my head).  Could that be were we get the saying “Fat Head”.

celebrateRWBstarsmallThe Red, White and Blue Blog Hop went well yesterday, when I got home from church I had so many comments and bloggers joining my site that I was as giddy as baby.  Since I read all my blog comments from my e-mail, I had to also look in my junk mail and pull all of you out of it and add you to my contact list.  I know it is a better way to read them from my blog but I am still learning.  I try to reply to most of you, and if I have not please do not feel slighted. I have been joining blogs and commenting on most if I have time.

For some of the new bloggers out there I have found two or three bloggers that are given advise on blogging subjects that will help you achieve blogging glory.
figureitoutacquainted

And Jenelle at Echinop & Aster is also having a series of tech help for bloggers.  This is also very helpful.
So if you don’t know nothing and you what to know something just check out our fellow bloggers who are willing to teach us how to blog successfully.

One last note, I will most likely not be quilting or making anything after today, since I will be in Vocation Bible School all this week after work and will not get home until after 9:00 and might not have time to even do a block.  Also the following week (as you know I will be in training, but I will blog about things I see in Detroit.  Then I will have my RW&B give away drawing when I get back.

It’s My Turn–Red, White & Blue Blog Hop And A Give-Away–Oh My!!!!

celebrateRWBstarsmall Welcome to my blog. I like to give a shout out to all my followers, and hope to gain more followers by the end of the hop.  This hop is contributed by the Queen of Hoppers Madame Samm Sew We Quilt and hosted by Jane of Jane,s Fabric and Quilt.  Thank you both for this great Red, White and Blue Blog Hop.
I am a little new at this blogging, I’ve only been at it for 7 months and learning a lot from visiting other sites and talking to fellow bloggers.  There are some great RW&B blocks I have seen so I hope you visit the other blogs and check them out.  The list is at Jane,s Fabric and Quilt, just click on schedule to see all the participants.

Now it is time to get to my blocks.  Would you believe that with the large stash that I have that I did not have any really good red or blue, so I ran out to JoAnn’s and picked up a couple of fat quarters.  After making this first block I had to make another and another and use the scraps for another.

All my blocks are from Quilters Cache Quilt Blocks Galore.  You know how much I love those scant 1/4 seams (yah, right, but I am learning and that 1/4" seam will not beat me).  This one is called Pins In Motion.  I like to always try a block I have not done before and this one had half square triangles and paper piecing all in one block.  And as you can see, I took the pictures in my neighbors yard and at the produce depart at the Safeway.  Pinwheels seems to be the blog hops theme so far.

My second block is Crossroads 2, both blocks are 12”.  Those are potatoes under that block.

Now this third block was made by mistake, I thought it was a 12” block but it was a 9”, but hay it’s all good.  This block is called Steps to the Altar 2. Hmm chili peppers $2.49 a pound, should have picked up some to make some poppers.

Now for the final block of my creation.  Yah, I created my own block an it is a work in progress, I call it Zippers, Buttons and Bows, and I use the scraps the I had left (I am going to have to go buy some more of this fabric).  This block did not make it out of the house for the photo op.

So I hope you liked my blocks and now it is time for the GIVE AWAY.  This is my first ever give away and I hope you like it.  As I was look through all that fabric I have, I found this nice little buddle by Bold Over Batiks.  This fabric was made in Malaysia and it is a Grab Bag Mix of 100% cotton and hand painted fabrics.  It has Batiks 6” & wider and longer with hand painted at least 4.5” wide, all are 21 + longer.

This buddle will be accompany by a security guard who is a bit camera shy at the moment.  The security guard is the reason for my blog name and has not been featured on any of my posts, but will be soon (not him exactly but his brothers and sisters).  All you have to do is be a follower and leave a comment.  If you  are not a follower join.  Make sure I am able to contact you.  I will be dropping your name in a hat and see if one of my cats want to draw out a name.  I will mail this out anywhere, USA, Europe, Katmandu.  Since I will be in Detroit the week of the 15th, I will post the winner by June 22nd (any body from Detroit, Michigan?).

So now I must end this blog.  Thank you for stopping by and don’t forget to stop by the other bloggers for today.

OMG!! It Is Hot Out There

As you know I have been home most of this week, not really going outside for anything.  Well today, I had to go out because I was out of bottle water, juice, soda and something sweet to eat.  I must say I do not want to stick my head out the door again until church tomorrow.  And would you know it, I forgot to pick up a bag of ice.  I will make do until tomorrow.

While I was out I did manage to take my RW&B blocks down to my neighbors yard and photo them.  I also took the opportunity to take pictures of the blocks in the produce section of the Safeway.  I know you can't wait to see them tomorrow.

As soon as I finish up some things down stairs (cleaning up my sewing mess, cooking a little dinner early, I plan to cool out in my bed room.  I have a sewing machine and stuff I was working on earlier this year up here. Also I have to get my thoughts together for the RW&B blog hop tomorrow.  I most likely will write it late tonight to be posted in the morning.  So remember to stop on by.
