Yes it has been awhile since my last blog. I have just been down and out on the quilting and blogging these last few months. Trying to find my quilt mojo or a quilt fairy to hit me in the head with her quilting wand to get my butt in gear.
Since I was not going any were or doing anything this weekend, I made myself go into the sewing room and tune out the house guess (long story on that). I have project to do, but just have not got started on them. I feel good that I was able to complete or almost complete several projects.
Since I have several baby showers to attend (they really was working out this long winter year), I made several baby burp clothes. I got the free pattern off of Craftsy.
They were so easy to make and fast. I used bath towels I got from Walmart for the backing. I will most likely make more this week depending on how many more baby showers I will be attending.
My Quilting Bee (Wee Bee Quilters) will be going on retreat in August and our Retreat Coordinator Carolyn Burgess it the best person for this job. She is already planning our fun weekend with projects to do before we even get there. One of the project is that each member who is attending is to make a house block. We picked which house block we wanted to make so all will be different, I got the tepee.
Although this is a very easy block to do, I had to have the quilt fairy hit me in the head with her wand to give me a better idea how I wanted this block to look and find just the right fabric in my stach to make this block come to life.
The background fabric was brought back from Italy by Tom's sister about 3 or 4 years ago. I had plan to make a skirt or jacket from it, and still might do that it was a lot of fabric so I did not think that taken a 12-1/2" piece out of it would do any harm. It has a desert fill to it. I plan to add something to the else to the right side of it not sure what, maybe a buffalo or arrows. This is do next week so I better get it together. Carolyn plans to put the house quilt together and one of us lucky participants might just win it.
The other project that I got started on was a Mommy & Me quilt for a friend of my son's, who had a baby girl last year. He plans to take it with him to Boston when he goes up in the next couple of months.
The elephants are appliqued on with a blanket stitch. I used charm squares I won from Pineapple Fabrics at the Atlantic Quilt Show in February. I just need to add the applique balloons and embroider the balloon strings tonight. Then add the top and bottom boarder strips, then send it out to have it quilted. I love piecing, but do not have the talent for quilting or the space.
I am so glad that I took the time out to let you all know that I am still here. Life has been kind of boring lately. Nothing fund is going on around here. No walking toilets , no flying tooth, and no Tom decorating the front door for Christmas.
I will blog with you soon.
