Birthday Give A-Way & The Walking Toilet

I am having a Birthday Give A-way.  My birthday is coming up on February 23, and I thought to myself “self, why not have a give a-way to celebrate it to your blogging friends” (if you read my post last night or today you would have know this was coming).

SAM_2994SAM_2998

So as you can see from above I am giving a way this Moda Sweet Serenade Jelly Roll.  How would you like to get you hands on that.  You will not have to jump through hoops for this great jelly roll give away.  Just leave a comment on this post on what you plan to make with it.  Not really, who can know before they get it what they will make with it.  I know I didn’t when I brought it.  Just leave a comment that you want it.  I will let the Random Generator do its thing to pick the winner.  You have until Feb. 28th midnight and I will let you know by e-mail.  I will mail it anywhere.

Now the story of the walking toilet.

image

O.K. it did not really walk (I just thought it was a great title to use).  This picture is not the new toilet.  As most of my readers know I had knee surgery early last year.  I still have problems with it and trying to get up from the toilet was one of them.  So, about 6 month ago Tom and I went out an brought a tall 17” toilet.  It set at the front door for about 2 or 3 weeks, then made it way upstairs to one of the back bedrooms.  Tom was going to put it in.  I said I would call a plumber, but you know how men can be, they like to do it themselves.  So as the months went by, I said nothing other then “I see the toilet is still setting in the back room, you don’t thing any body will use it do you.”  I guess in finally got tired of my asking about when he was going to put it in (it already been 6 months).

Well he called me at work last week to let me know that he watch a YouTube video on how to install the toilet, and how easy it would be.  That was around 9:00 am.  When I got home and went upstairs, what did I see but the old toilet setting in the bedroom?????  The new toilet still in the box????  Thank God, I did not have to use it right away.  (We do have one in the basement).  Seem he had some running around to do (Oh why do we let the men in our lives, work us so hard???, should have called the plumber.)  I only had to make one run to the basement.  He did get the new one in that night.

The old toilet that was sitting in the bedroom was move to the hall and set there for 2 days.  When I got home from work it seem to make its way downstairs by the the staircase (wish I had taken pictures) covered up.  Sat there for a week, now it is sitting on the back porch.  The snow storm we had last week prevent it from making it to the back fence for pick-up.  Snow has cleared, now we see how long it will take it to walk to the fence to be picked up.

I have to say, that now I have the best sit in the house and it has two flush modes for I and II (no pictures).

So I’ll be flushing on along, need to work on my quilt.  Don’t forget the give a way.

The Slow Quilter (with the even slower husband) Felicia.

  10. Loved your story about the walking toilet! I would love to win your give away-it's a generous gift! I already know I would make one of those continuous quilts with it. I'm sure there is a better name, but it escapes me. Anyway, thanks for the opportunity to win and I hope you have a wonderful Bday!

  11. Now that is one walking toilet! Congratulations on the new throne, if I get a new one it will be taller - don't tell anyone but if there's no one waiting for the handicap stall, that's where I generally head because of the height!

  12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FELICIA! Thanks for the chance to win your generous giveaway.
Very funny story and I think all of us can relate in some way as all husbands seem to be alike. My husbands motto is-Why do it today when there is always tomorrow?

  15. Congratulations on the new toilet -- isn't that little extra height wonderful? It's so much easier on the knees. We replaced one of our toilets at our old house with the taller one and liked it so much that we put all tall ones in our new home that we built last year. It's amazing how quickly you get used to the extra height and when you have to use a shorter one it feels like you're falling in.

Hope you have a very happy birthday -- if I'm lucky enough to win, I would use the jelly roll to make a quilt for Project Linus. -- P.S. Linda sent me to your blog.

I would love to win your fabric. I would probably make a single bed sized quilt or a couch throw. Why don't we find out?

  19. Happy Birthday, Felicia. When I saw the title I was afraid this was going to be a similar story to the one where you're running and your panty hose are heading south! I'd love to get my hands on that jelly roll so thank you for the chance to win. OH....thanks for not showing pictures of #1 or #2....don't really need visual assistance with that :)

  20. You should put google eyes on your walking toilet. Hee, hee. We've got quite a few of those kinds of projects around our house. Happy Birthday! I would love to win, but thanks for the fun story regardless. Watch out for that walking toilet--it might want some birthday cake!

  21. Only you could write a story about a walking toilet. It was wonderful and I feel your pain. :0) I love jelly rolls and use them a lot in my quilts. They are versatile and make for an interesting project with all of the different options. Have a wonderful birthday and enjoy life!

  23. Happy early birthday Felicia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you squeeze as much celebrating into the weekend as you can. I would love to get my hot little hands on that jelly roll! I picked up 3 Times the Charm by Me & My Sister Designs at JoAnn last night and I am itching to make one of the cute designs out of there - I LOVE their stuff!

I am going to read this post to my husband and dad. I actually laughed out loud at my desk this afternoon! This has happened in my life too so I completely understands how you felt. I think you should put your series of photos together and speed them up so it looks like the toilet is walking. hahahahaha

  24. Happy Birthday Felicia!! The men in our lives are funny sometimes... they can get distracted very easy at time.

I would love to be the winner of the Fab Jelly roll. I would be making a Thangle basket quilt for myself as a memorial piece as it reminds me of some one was very special to me. I am inspired by that line!

Thank You for the chance to to win that wonderful jellyroll.

    In Kind Regards,
    tricia

  27. Happy Birthday! Isn't it amazing how just a couple of inches can make a difference. I'm positive that the reason public restrooms have the low toilets is that most of them are chosen by men and they only sit on one once or twice a day. Thanks for the chance to win the jelly roll, they are perfect for HST's.

  28. Happy Birthday! I love that you get that you can't know what you are going to make with fabric without seeing it first. When I have to answer that question I usually just say a quilt as that is probably what I will eventually do with it. A jelly roll is a great giveaway, thanks for the chance.

  29. Love the walking toilet! Bet you there's more than one of those around, LOL. I would love the jelly roll, should Mr. Random choose me.

  31. Happy Birthday! Love your toilet story! I once had a main level floor that didn't get finished for almost 6 months. It took an impending visit by my parents before he decided to finish it. No amount of nagging works for my husband either. Thanks for the chance to win the jelly roll. I've got a couple of jelly roll patterns I could make with it, but never know how the muse will strike should I win.
